Neuromarketing theory & Practice#5 was published

Today, the latest issue of Neuromarketing Theory & Practice was released. In this issue a story about internet and eye tracking was published, along with an interview with Scott Huetell, coverage of the Neuromarketing World Forum 2013 in Brazil, an article on the position of Neuromarketing in the field of Market Research and much more. neuromarketing standards prio no. 1 of Nmsba board
[27 March 2013] 
The NMSBA Board of Directors just decided to give priority to the development of criteria for neuromarketing standardization. "There is an urgent need for more information neuromarketing methodology around", according to president Richard Silberstein. In the near future (est. 3 months) a draft set of standards will be released, which will involve the vendors presenting evidence to support their claims for scientific validity. These standards will be used as a criterium for corporate membership to the NMSBA. At this moment only personal membership exists.

Very successful neuromarketing world forum in brazil

The second Neuromarketing World Forum is closed. Over 200 people from 22 different nationalities attended the three days full of news and networking. Some remarks in the survey made us blush a bit:

  • "I enjoyed the content and the opportunity to meet professionals engaged in neuromkt from all over the world, and check the evolution and achievements in the industry."

The next Neuromarketing World Forum is held on 5-6-7th March in New York, USA.

naomi sparks grewal first neurotalent of the year!

Naomi Sparks Grewal is the first one that can call herself Neurotalent of the Year. "We think that the topic of her research, segmentation based on physiological factors, is highly relevant to business. Besides, she managed to explain the approach in an easy-to-understand format, which can lead as an example to other students. We are personally looking forward to meeting her in person and hand over her prize, Naomi: Congratulations!"

Updates in version 1.1 – January 2013

  • Addition of ESOMAR Acknowledgement Code: “The NMSBA code accepts the principles enshrined in the ICC/ESOMAR code”
  • Update the word ‘insights’ in section 6e to ‘personal information’
  • Update the words ‘insight’ in section 1c, 4c and 5c to ‘neuromarketing insights and
  • Inclusion of the definition of ‘neuromarketing insights’: “Neuromarketing Insights are informed deductions supported by analyzing the amount of brain activity produced by marketing stimuli  (advertisements, websites, packaging, etc.)”
  • Removal of article 3a “Neuromarketing researchers shall not publicly denigrate the work of other neuromarketing researchers.” *

It is the end of the year and it we are proud what we have reached so far. Only officially founded in the beginning of 2012, we have grown to a solid association of 159 members in 36 different countries!
For 2013 we have trust and enthusiasm to continue our work to push the field of neuromarketing further.

Launch Neuromarketing Code of Ethics

On 9 November 2012 the NMSBA announces the Neuromarketing Code of Ethics. The code represents a first step towards adopting international standards applied to using neuroscientific methods to study the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, packaging and product design, as well as communication campaigns from non-profit organizations and government institutions.
 
The purpose of a Code of Ethics for the neuromarketing industry is to address three important issues:
  • Restore the confidence of the public in the legitimacy and integrity of neuromarketers
  • Ensure neuromarketers protect the privacy of research participants
  • Protect the buyers of neuromarketing services
NMSBA members will respect these principles as a condition of membership.
